BBC Good Food Show: Our First & Last Time
We were really looking forward to this day at the BBC Good Food Show at the NEC. We had missed the previous show last autumn and were excited about finding out what it was like.We bought the tickets last month and planned a whole week end in Birmingham because we’d never been there. Unfortunately the week end turned into a single day at the NEC and to tell the truth, there has been so much going on in the past couple of weeks (an accident, an engagement, a new flat) that we almost forgot about the show. Still, we managed to find some time on Sunday to go.
As expected it was very busy even though we arrived quite early. We didn’t know that the BBC Gardeners’ World Show took place at the same time but it was a pleasant surprise as we like gardening, plants and flowers - but not as much as food and cooking! But to be honest, we found the gardeners’ show much more interesting and pleasant than the food show.
We thought the food show would be bigger. We were expecting more producers and not that many utensils and cooking devices’ manufacturers. Of course they are also part of the game and it’s normal that they attend such an event, but the show was almost only about demonstrating how sharp a knife is or how easy to use and wash a blender is. Nicolas and I were both disappointed, especially when considering that a single ticket costs almost £20! Let me tell you that it’s absolutely not worth it!
But we didn’t leave the show empty-handed… We bought some delicious French saucisson (food-speaking, one of the things we miss the most in England) as well as 2 large beanbags for our new flat - nothing to do with food I know but Fat Boy had a stand and a good show offer on the day so we went for it. At least we didn’t drive 4 hours and woke up at 6am on a Sunday morning for nothing! But I’m pretty sure that we won’t go back to the show.
Have you ever been to a BBC Good Food Show? What did you think? Did you like it?

The Send a Cow garden, had loads of tips about how the keyhole garden enables families in Africa to grow veg all year round. We’ve put up lots of pictures from the day and of our garden - http://www.sendacow.org.uk/bbcgwlblog (Send a Cow Blog) - Great blogging with you!
