Recipe: Stilton on Toast with Peppered Pears - Recette: Toasts au Stilton & Poires au Poivre

Submitted by Nathalie on Saturday, 21 February 20093 Comments

This is a nice snack or light lunch, which easy and quick to prepare. It’s just a piece of toast with a bit of cheese, but it’s delicious!

Pepper on pears in rather unusual (for me) but I liked it a lot - even though I may have added a bit too much pepper to my taste. But Nicolas liked it as it was so you just need to adjust to how spicy you like your food I guess.

Stilton on Toasts with Peppered Pears

Serves 2 - Ready in 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pear
  • 2 slices of bread
  • 20/30g Stilton
  • 5/10g butter
  • pepper

Preparation

Slice the pears and add some pepper. Heat a pan. When it’s hot, add the pears (without oil or butter or anything, just the pears). Fry for about 3 minutes, tossing them once in a while. The pears should be light brown.

While the pears are cooking, mix the cheese and the butter, and toast the bread.

Put the pears, toasts and cheese on plates and serve immediately.

Pretty simple isn’t it?

Sorry I didn’t have time to translate the recipe in French. We are going to France for a few days and leaving in a couple of hours. I’ll publish the recipe in French as soon as we get back (on Wednesday).

  • Wow! What a great recipe! Love the logo too!

  • Marc-André says:

Pepper and fruits go so well together. I also like to make it flambé. My favorite combinations are:
    -Apple and calvados (of course)
    -Strawberries and Grand Mariner
    -Blueberries and Chicoutai

And I am sure you could change the change the cheese accordingly. It might be a bit sweet for lunch but it would be excellent for dessert.

  • Nathalie says:

    @Alisa: thank you :)

@Marc-Andre: what is Chicoutai? I’ve never heard of it before…
