Serial Cooking Now on Facebook!
While the Serial Cooking web application is about to be released (we will update you on this very soon), we have just created a Fan page on Facebook for the Serial Cooking project.
Users of the blog brought up an interesting question: would it be possible for us to upload our own pictures of the recipes we try?
Well, on the blog it’s unfortunately impossible. We’ve looked at all possibilities (include an uploading feature within the comments, ask readers to send me the pictures which I would upload myself somewhere on the blog, create a special page for the users’ photos…) but none could work. It was either a problem of workload and logistics for us, or simply a problem with Wordpress which is not that flexible on certain matters.
To be honest, such a feature is going to be included in the web application. It may not be available right from the beginning, but it is definitely on our list of future improvements. Meanwhile, we’ve come up with another solution, which is pretty good actually: a fan page on Facebook.
Why Facebook?
Because almost everyone has now a Facebook account and it allows everything we would like to have. Besides, it’s user-friendly (even though I must admit that I struggled yesterday with the admin of the page!) and will hopefully increase the dialogue between you and us.
What’s on the fan page?
Basically, you’ll find all the Facebook features as if they were made especially for us. In other words, you have:
- Basic information about Serial Cooking, i.e. websites’ addresses
- My Flickr photostream - updated almost everyday
- The blog RSS feed reader
- Photo albums, videos and links
- Events and notes
- The wall and discussion board
Why should you become a fan of Serial Cooking?
As I said earlier, this Facebook fan page is no more than a way for us to communicate with you. We’d like to have your feedback on the whole project, on the blog’s layout, management and content, as well as on the recipes themselves. Why? Because we’re not creating this project only for ourselves. Yes we have a lot of fun working on Serial Cooking (and we do eat well :)), but our main objective is to create a community around food and simple cooking. Your participation is therefore essential and I’m sure that if you like Serial Cooking, you’ll be willing to contribute.
How? By becoming a fan of Serial Cooking, you will be able to upload your own pictures, to tell us what you think on the wall, what you’d like to see improved, to start (food-related) discussions on the discussion board and to ask any (food-related) questions. We’re always delighted to hear from you!
So don’t be shy and come and join us on Facebook!
