Home-made Cosmetics Recipe: Rosemary & Citrus Shower Gel

Submitted by Nathalie on Wednesday, 28 January 2009No Comment

This recipe is one of the first recipes which I have tried when I started making my own cosmetics. It’s very easy, quick and you can’t blow it. Moreover, the ingredients are common and easy to find.

The recipe comes from Aroma-Zone.

Rosemary & Citrus Shower Gel

Difficulty: Easy - Estimated cost: € 9 / £ 8.46 (*) - Ready in 5 minutes

Equipment

  • Bottle 250ml
  • Measuring beaker 250ml
  • Spoon
  • Small funnel

Ingredients

  • Organic liquid soap base: 100ml
  • Aloe vera gel: 100ml
  • Mandarin green essential oil*: 30 drops
  • Grapefruit essential oil*: 30 drops
  • Siam wood essential oil*: 9 drops
  • Rosemary cineole essential oil*: 9 drops

* Essential oils are to be handled with care. Please respect indicated quantities!

Preparation

  • Disinfect all your utensils and clean your counter.
  • In the beaker, add all the ingredients one by one, stirring well between each ingredient.
  • Using the funnel, pour the shower gel in the bottle.

I like the scent of this shower gel. It’s quite “strong” with the rosemary essential oil, toning and revitalising. It does wake you up in the morning shower!

Like the Ananas & Bamboo Exfoliating Gel, it is a bit costly due to the large quantity of aloe vera gel. However, you can reduce the quantity of aloe vera, especially if you don’t have a sensitive skin. Your shower gel will then be as effective as in the original recipe and keep the same scent. It will just be less soft on your skin.

(*) The estimated cost depends on the supplier and only the cost of the ingredients are taken into account. For this product, I’ve bought all the ingredients at Aroma-Zone.
The estimated cost in £ also depends on the exchange rate (27/01/2009 - 11h25: €1 = £0.94).
