Happy Chinese New Year!

Submitted by Nathalie on Monday, 26 January 2009One Comment

We wish you a Happy Chinese New Year!

Year of the Ox

To celebrate the Year of the Ox, we’ve cooked traditional Chinese (or at least Asian) recipes. Some have been a success, others were… well let’s say experimental, or not quite like at the Chinese restaurant or take-away.

Menu #1

Menu #1 Chinese New Year Chinese New Year Fresh Exotic Salad Fruit

Menu #2

Menu #2 Chinese New Year Chinese New Year Coconut Balls

Experiments…

We hadn’t cooked anyone of these dishes before and not everything was a success, but we’re happy we’ve done it.

We’ve failed with the crispy spring rolls and spring rolls. These 2 dishes require good recipes as well as skills and experience. However, we’re not giving up and we’ll try again until we get them right.
The caramelised pork and coconut balls were delicious! We’ll publish both recipes very soon.

What are you having to celebrate the Chinese New Year?
Are you cooking or going to the restaurant? Anything special or experimental?
