Recipe: Roasted Sweet Potato - Recette: Patate Douce au Four
Today is Wednesday and here comes our third recipe of the week featuring the guest veg: Roasted Sweet Potato.
There is nothing complicated about this recipe. You don’t need to have any talent or skill, but I love it because you get the real taste of the sweet potato and I find it delicious.
You can eat roasted sweet potato as a side dish with any kind of meat, or if you’re a vegetarian, you can add a refreshing salad.
Serves 2 - Ready in 40 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 big sweet potato - or 2 small
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- salt and pepper
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Peel the sweet potato and cut it into chips.
- Place in an oven-proof dish. Sprinkle with olive oil.
- Bake for about 30 minutes. If you want them to be more crispy, you should bake them for an additional 10 to 15 minutes.
- Add salt and pepper and serve immediately with a piece of meat or a bowl of salad (or both if you’re really hungry)
Bon Appétit!

Hey! This looks easy and nice! I must say I think I have never tasted any sweet potato… is the taste really different from a “standard” potato? Does it cost more? Thanks in advance for the answer!
yummy I’ve got a stock of potatoes that I need to use and quick if not they get lost.
I’ll do those roasted potatoes tonight or tomorrow. It’s quite a common recipe but I do not think about doing it very often.
With good pieces of lamb, they will be delicious!
@Julie: sweet potatoes’ taste is really different from standard potatoes. It’s very sweet, as its name says, and you can use them in savoury dishes as well as in cakes.
I can say for sure that it’s also more expensive, since they are not produced in Europe and therefore imported, but I don’t remember how much I bought them. It’s not that expensive though, you should definitely buy one to taste it!
I bought my first sweet potato today !!!
And I knew that I would fine a recipe including it, thanks to your blog Nath !
So this recipe is the one I choose, for its simplicity…
I will let you know once I would have cooked it this week !
@Princesse26: I’m sure you’ll like this recipe… Let me know!
Ca y est !!
I’ve made the roasted sweet potatoes tonight !!
It is really sweet, but mine’s were a little bit too “molles” (how do you say that ??? not crispy enough). I let them about 50 minutes in the oven, maybe it was not enough. Or maybe I put to much olive oil ?
But the taste was still really nice.
Next time I will buy sweet potatoes, I think I will try to make them “sautées à la poêle”.
Thanks to you Nath, I’ve tasted sweet potatoes for the first time of my life !!
